Disney personnel are strolling out to demand a lot more LGBTQ help

A team of Disney staff members staged a walkout on Tuesday at spots across the state, demanding the organization do additional to safeguard LGBTQ individuals and protesting that CEO Bob Chapek waited far too very long to condemn a monthly bill passed by the Florida legislature.

The legislation that sparked the outcry is the Mothers and fathers Legal rights in Education and learning bill, which has been dubbed the “Really don’t Say Gay” monthly bill by critics. If signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, it would prohibit Florida educators from instructing sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten by third grade.

DeSantis fired again in a speech the future day, telling a team of supporters, “You have corporations, like Disney, that are likely to … criticize parents’ legal rights, they are heading to criticize the reality that we don’t want trangenderism in kindergarten, in to start with-grade classrooms.”

It is unclear how many Disney workers participated in the walkout.


Disney did not straight away answer to FOX Business’ request for comment, but Disney+ issued a assertion Tuesday early morning stating, in section, that the streaming company “stands by our LGBTQIA+ personnel, colleagues, households, storytellers, and admirers, and we strongly denounce all legislation that infringes on the fundamental human rights of men and women in the LGBTQIA+ neighborhood – especially laws that targets and harms younger people and their family members.”
